Searchers continued to hunt for the remains of Sara Anne Wood underpowerful floodlights in bitter cold Tuesday night as they feared that the five-month hunt for the girl would come to a tragic climax.

The search for the 12-year-old girl's remains, prompted by a statement from a suspected serial killer, was concentrated in a clearing off a logging road three miles south of Route 28 in the hamlet of Raquette Lake, Hamilton County, about 100 miles northwest of Albany.

State troopers and state Department of Environmental Conservation rangers, bundled up against the frigid temperatures and battling snow squalls, dug through more than 30 inches …
